Assists applicants with providing information that is needed by the EPA to assess dredge proposals for development applications, licence applications and dredge management plans.

Categorising risk and identifying EPA expectations for managing risks (flow chart and checklist)

The flowchart and checklist will assist applicants in broadly categorising the environmental risk of their dredge campaign and enable applicants to identify whether EPA expectations have been met in the information presented in their DA, LA or DMP.

By applying the ‘MUSTS’ presented in the checklist will assist applicants in demonstrating they have done everything reasonable and practicable to minimise the potential for environmental harm.

Assists in the preparation of a dredge management plan for low- to medium-risk dredging campaigns.

Broad overview of NAGD requirements (flow chart)

Provides an overview on the steps required in the assessment framework for the National Assessment Guidelines for Dredging. This needs to be demonstrated for all dredge campaigns that intend on depositing spoil in the marine environment.

Sediment sampling requirements (flow chart)

Identifies the requirements and need for sediment sampling.

Sampling analysis plan requirements (checklist)

Identifies information that needs to be included in developing a sediment analysis plan to determine the sediment composition at the dredge site.

Schedule of works (template)

Submission of timeframes for proposed dredging works. Informs the EPA of when dredging works are proposed to occur for an approved campaign. To be submitted with the notification of works 5 business days prior to the commencement of preparing the site for dredging.

Environmental audit (checklist)

Outlines EPA regulatory requirements that need to be met when dredging. A voluntary tool which enables licensees to undertake an environmental self-audit of their operation.
