- CDL Awareness and Support Research Report (2012). The research improves upon the excellent results of previous surveys and now reveals consumer support of 98% for container refunds in SA
- Community awareness and acceptance of Container Deposit Legislation 2004. The survey showed that 97% of South Australians believe CDL is good for the environment.

Northern Territory container deposit scheme
The Northern Territory’s Container Deposit Scheme called Cash For Containers was established under the Environment Protection (Beverage Containers and Plastic Bags), and commenced 3 January 2012. It has proven very popular with the NT community.
Unlike other Australian state based schemes, the NT scope of containers and governance model aligns with South Australia’s scheme.
The NT legislation requires an evaluation of the operation of the CDS at f5-yearly intervals after the commencement of the CDS. Results of the 2018 review
New South Wales container deposit scheme
In February 2015, the New South Wales Government announced its commitment to introduce a cost-effective container deposit scheme (CDS). On 8 May 2016 after extensive community and industry consultation it confirmed a CDS would commence in NSW.
The scheme started on 1 December 2017. Most beverage containers between 150 ml and 3 litres are able to be returned for a 10-cent refund.

Queensland container refund scheme
Following a feasibility investigation, the Queensland Government commenced a container refund scheme on 1 November 2018, to tackle litter and plastic pollution and improve recycling.

ACT container deposit scheme
The ACT container deposit scheme (CDS) commenced 30 June 2018. Consumers are now able to return eligible beverage containers to designated drop-off points and receive a 10 cent refund for each container.

WA container deposit scheme
The Western Australian Container Deposit Scheme commenced 1 October 2020. The Scheme Coordinator is Western Australia Return Recycle Renew (WARRRL) and the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery (Container Deposit Scheme) Regulations 2019 have been gazetted.
