Royal Park
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has been undertaking environmental assessment in Royal Park since August 2023 to find out whether groundwater is impacted by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
The results of the Stage 1 and Stage 2 groundwater investigations for the Royal Park EPA assessment area confirmed the presence of PFAS.
The EPA is proposing to establish a groundwater prohibition area (GPA) in parts of Royal Park.
The purpose of establishing GPAs is to protect current and future landholders from accessing contaminated groundwater.
The EPA is proposing to gazette the groundwater prohibition on 7 November 2024.
