Radiation management plan
All holders of a radiation management licence are required to submit a radiation management plan (RMP) that complies with the Code of Compliance for radiation management plans 2022.
The code provides the mandatory requirements for RMPs, the purpose of which is to provide information and establish procedures on the proper use and handling of radioactive materials and radiation sources. The RMP should detail how a licensed person will fulfil the requirements of the Radiation Protection and Control Act 2021, Radiation Protection and Control Regulations 2022 and relevant codes or standards for the safe handling and use of radiation sources. It describes the premises and activities, the nature of radiation sources and risks, the controls to manage those risks, and the measures to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements.
Where applicable, nationally agreed codes and guides published by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) set out information to be considered when developing a radiation management plan.
