EPA assessment area
The EPA is commencing environmental assessment work in Woodville.
Historical records held by the EPA show that groundwater in this area is contaminated with hexavalent chromium, which was used by an electroplating business between 1950–90. Significant work was carried out to remediate the soil and groundwater, however recent notifications provided to the EPA indicate the groundwater (bore water) remains contaminated in this area.
The EPA will test for hexavalent chromium and other chemicals such as metals, petroleum and chlorinated hydrocarbons that may have been used historically by other industries. Results will be posted to this webpage and sent out to residents later in the year.
