Landfill
Disposal of material to landfill is the last resort option for waste. The Environment Protection (Waste to Resources) Policy 2010 (W2R EPP) supports the South Australia’s Strategic Plan 2007 target of reducing waste to landfill.
The EPP has banned the following types of waste from being disposed of to landfill:
- cardboard and paper (aggregated)
- computer monitors
- electrical and electronic equipment
- fluorescent lighting
- glass packaging (aggregated)
- hazardous waste
- lead acid batteries
- liquid waste
- medical waste
- metals (aggregated)
- oil
- PET or HDPE plastic packaging (aggregated)
- PP or LDPE plastic packaging
- PVC or PS plastic packaging
- televisions
- tyres (whole)
- vegetative matter collected by councils
- vehicles
- whitegoods
